BRETT LEVNER - director
Brett is a screenwriter and director currently completing her M.F.A. in Film at Columbia University. She received her Bachelors of Arts with honors in film and video production from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1998.
Her undergraduate thesis film, SURVIVORS, screened at the 1999 Hamptons International Film Festival. It also won the Warner Bros. Pictures Film Production Award, the Russell Hexter Filmmaker Award and the William Gidro-Frank Film Production Award. It is currently being distributed by Atomfilms.
Prior to attending Columbia, Brett worked her way up the ranks at MTV’s News & Documentaries Department. Starting out as an intern, she quickly rose to producer and has worked on more than a dozen shows before leaving to pursue her masters degree. She continues to do freelance work for both MTV and VH1. In addition, Brett is the winner of the 2004 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Award. The fifty-second spot, Being Reel, which Brett wrote and directed, went on to screen on
nearly 21,000 movie screens across the country. Most recently,
Brett won the 2005 Comedy Central Award for Best Comedy Screenplay.
Crystal River is Brett's feature film debut.
