EMILY CARPENTER - (Davie Nance)

Emily moved to Atlanta in 1989 after graduating from Auburn University in Alabama with a BA in Communications, Theater and Journalism. She acted in community theater and did print, industrial and commercial work, but a move to New York City for her husband’s career landed her at CBS Television on the network end of the daytime dramas “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light.”

Returning to Georgia and teaming up with friend Jamie Hendrix Collins, Carpenter co-wrote, co-produced and acted in SOUTHERN HEART, a romantic comedy feature starring Peter DeLuise (21 Jump Street ). SOUTHERN HEART played in theaters and was picked up for worldwide distribution by PorchLight Entertainment, Inc.

After dealing with a string of miscarriages, Carpenter wrote the intensely personal script CRYSTAL RIVER in 2002. The script made the first round cut for the 2003 Sundance Screenwriters Lab and then placed as quarterfinalist in the 2003 Cynosure Screenwriters Awards. Soon after, she decided to produce the romantic drama herself in Atlanta.

-- Emily is now working on several other projects, but says "I would love to make Crystal River a franchise, like those Lifetime movies "Love Comes Softly". They've been incredibly successful. Everyone who has seen Crystal River has strong opinions about whether Davie should or should not go back to her husband and what happens after the credits roll. Maybe Paul and Clay have to duke it out. Who knows? I can definitely see a Crystal River 2, 3, and 4."
